Invisible (IIC)

Hearing Aid Guide

Hearing aids so tiny, no one will notice you’re wearing them.

Hearing loss is a prevalent and familiar condition experienced by an estimated 48 million Americans. One of the most common concerns of first time hearing aid users is that their hearing devices will be visible to other people and because of this the invisible in canal (IIC) hearing aids are a very popular option.

IIC hearing aids, as the name implies, are (practically) invisible to anyone around you. Smaller than the tip of a finger, these hearing aids rest deep within the ear canal and are custom shaped to fit the unique contours of each wearer.

If you’re concerned about the appearance of other hearing aid styles, IIC hearing devices may be a good option for you.

Hearing Aid Invisible

The Advantages of Invisible (IIC) Hearing Aids

With an Invisible (IIC) hearing aid, you can enjoy the following benefits:

Discrete & Unobtrusive – Virtually undetectable to outside observer and custom molded to fit your unique ear canal shape, IIC hearing aids rest comfortably and securely in your ear. Many users forget they’re wearing them at all.

Natural Sound Quality – Because they rest deep within your ear canal, IIC hearing aids allow your ears to channel sound waves the way they would naturally towards the inner ear. This results in properly communicated sound directionality and allows for a more natural sound profile.

Private Control – Due to their incredibly small size, IIC hearing aids have little room to put controls on the device itself. This means that any changes to settings are made via a remote control or wireless phone connection. Allowing all adjustments to be made discretely without anyone knowing.

Active Lifestyle – IIC hearing aids fit well with the lifestyles of active individuals. Their slim and snug profile prevent them from falling out or getting caught on your hair or clothing. Run, throw, and bend without fear of damaging your hearing device. You may even wear helmets or other headgear without interference.

Invisible (IIC) Compatible Technology

Hearing aid customization allows for a one of a kind hearing device that fits your exact need for maximum comfort and performance.

Portrait – Allows your hearing aid to quickly adjust to settings and new sounds. Portrait technology also takes wireless performance to the next level by providing consistent performance when streaming TV, music, and other media. All of this while still providing distortion-free listening with high-quality feedback cancellation.

MicroLens Synergy iQ® – Experience all-day comfort and simple integration of technology with the MicroLens Synergy iQ®. It includes distortion-free listening capabilities and improved sound clarity. With MicroLens Synergy iQ, you can enjoy refined sound quality all day long within the compact and custom fit design of IIC hearing aids.

MicroLens Synergy® – The high-end feedback cancellation system provides comfortable listening while better wireless performance connects you to all the latest entertainment with our MicroLens Synergy®. This system is ideal for your IIC device, providing a custom and comfortable fit.

Who are the candidates?

Ideal candidates for the invisible (IIC) hearing aid are those experiencing mild to moderate hearing loss and desire the IIC’s discrete design.

Due to the small nature of IIC hearing aids, candidates must consider the following:

Required Dexterity – IIC hearing aids are small in size and fit deep within the ear canal making them difficult to insert/remove for some users.

Decreased Battery Life – Due to their small size, IIC hearing aids can only accommodate the smallest battery sizes. This results in more frequent charges and less amplification power offered by larger hearing devices, which is why IIC hearing aids are not recommended for severe hearing loss.

Lack of Binaural Capability – Due to their position within the ear canal, two IIC hearing aids may not communicate with one another. If two devices are worn, they will need to be adjusted separately.

Ear Anatomy – While IIC hearing aids may be custom fitted to match the unique shape of a user’s ear canal, not all ear canals will be able to accommodate the minimum space required.

Are Invisible (IIC) Hearing Aids for Everyone?

Although invisible hearing aids are an ideal option for many individuals with hearing loss, they may not be the right fit for everyone. If your ear canal is too small or narrow, the device shape might not be the best fit. In addition, IIC hearing aids are more susceptible to moisture damage and are more easily clogged by earwax, requiring regular maintenance and cleaning.

I would like to tell you my story about my hearing loss. Fourteen years ago I punched my right ear drum with a Q tip. I had surgery about two months after my accident. I had complete hearing loss in that ear. I've got 74% hearing in my left ear. My hearing was so bad that I couldn't make out what people would say when I would talk too them. I would ask them to repeat what they had said. Then I would apologize for not being able too hear them. I've tried two different Hearing Aid Centers through the years and my hearing has declined. I knew that I had to do something. I heard about The Hearing Aid Center in Lawrenceburg TN and I thought I would give them a try. I can't believe how it has changed my life. I've had to turn the tv down. I can hear my wife talk and I don't ask her to repeat herself. I had a bad noise in my ear all the time and now it's so much better. So I'm saying too you, please don't give up, there is help for you. I'm so proud that I heard about The Hearing Aid Center in Lawrenceburg TN. They have completely changed my life for the better.
