Hearing Aid Completely in Canal

The Advantages of Completely-In-Canal (CIC) Hearing Aids

With a Completely-In-Canal hearing aid, you can enjoy the following benefits:

Discrete & Comfortable – A CIC hearing aid rest deep within the ear canal where they are virtually undetectable to the outside observer. CIC hearing aids may also be custom molded to fit your exact ear canal shape for maximum comfort.

Durable & Dependable – Manufactured with a moisture and wax repelling design to protect and ensure durability. CIC hearing aids are built to last and work time and again.

Improved Sound – Resting deep in the ear canal, CIC hearing aids are protected from wind and other outside noise interference. Noise feedback cancellation technology provides distortion-free listening all day long.

Active Lifestyle – The compact and discrete nature of CIC hearing aids allow them to be worn by more active individuals. Their slim and snug profile prevent them from falling out or getting caught on your hair or clothing. Run, throw, and bend without fear of damaging your hearing device. You may even wear helmets or other headgear without interference.

Who are the candidates?

The ideal candidates for Completely-In-Canal (CIC) hearing aids are those experiencing mild to moderate hearing loss and prefer the CIC’s more discrete design.

Due to their compact design, candidates for CIC hearing aids must consider the following:

Required Dexterity – CIC hearing aids are small in size and fit deep within the ear canal making them difficult to insert/remove for some users.

Decreased Battery Life – Due to their small size, CIC hearing aids can only accommodate the smallest battery sizes. This results in more frequent charges and less amplification power offered by larger hearing devices, which is why CIC hearing aids are not recommended for severe hearing loss.

Lack of Binaural Capability – Due to their position within the ear canal, two CIC hearing aids may not communicate with one another. If two devices are worn, they will need to be adjusted separately.

Ear Anatomy – While CIC hearing aids may be custom fitted to match the unique shape of a user’s ear canal, not all ear canals will be able to accommodate the minimum space required.

Are Completely-In-Canal Hearing Aids for Everyone?

Completely-in-Canal can enhance your daily routine with its advanced technology and custom fit comfort. However they may not be an ideal choice for everyone. Their tiny size will make it difficult for some users to easily handle and they may lack additional components that would normally fit into a larger hearing device such as multiple microphones for directional hearing capabilities. Completely-in-Canals are typically not recommended for individuals with acceptable low-frequency hearing or those with severe hearing loss.
